Elrido Lodge

Fine Dining at Elrido Lodge

With so much to do in Bloemfontein on Valentine’s day, we ended up choosing Elrido Lodge.

Upon arrival we where warmly greeted by friendly staff with a non alcoholic champagne with fresh berries. We had the option of sitting inside or outside on the deck overlooking a very inviting pool area. Outside was decorated to theme with fresh flowers on the tables and comfy cushions on the wooden benches. We could hear the water features outside in the garden which added to the nice relaxed atmosphere.

The starter of calamari and bruschetta with roasted garlic and tomato was fresh and crunchy. For main there was roast beef seasoned with a range of herbs and a hit of red wine for taste, chicken breasts stuffed with peppadews in a creamy sauce. I tasted Waldorf salad for the first time and fell in love with this taste sensation of crispy apples and walnuts drenched in a creamy sauce. The roast potatoes reminded me of my beloved mom’s cooking. There was a trio of deserts in the form of peppermint-crisp tart, generously made with chocmint biscuits and Aero chocolates, cookie cheesecake and red velvet truffles that was moist and added to the Valentine’s theme.

The relaxed atmosphere, good service and delicious food definitely added to the delight of the day.

Elrido Lodge is an accommodation establishment but has a fully operational restaurant lounge area that is open to the public from Tuesdays to Sundays. They are situated on the corner of Lucas Steyn and Ray Champion Street in Heuwelsig. For bookings, contact Elrido Lodge on 051 436 5251 or email to info@elrido.co.za
