Did you know that you can take a proper game drive in Bloemfontein? And no, I’m not talking about the giraffes on Naval Hill. Let me tell you something, the morning after our wedding, we took a game drive at Emoya Estate where we encountered over 30 different species of game including white rhinos, giraffes, zebras and many different species of antelope!
It was a little bit of fun, somewhat adventurous, but most of all informative. The game ranger stopped regularly to tell us more about each animal. We were amazed at how close we could get to these animals within the safety of the vehicle.
Visitors can also upgrade their game drive package to include a visit to the world renowned Cheetah Experience where they can get up close and personal with different wild cats like the Cheetah and Leopard. This is highly recommended. And for the free spirited among us…. there is the quad game drive with a game ranger. Both options make you feel like you’re on safari!
Emoya Estate is within the larger parameters of Bloemfontein in the Groenvlei and Heuwelsig area so visitors (or residents) do not need to drive far. You can make this a weekend break as there are many other activities also on the privately owned wildlife estate.
There is a luxurious spa where you can get pampered, a garden restaurant where you can enjoy light meals and drinks, a mini golf area as well as driving range. And after a long day of adventure and activities, you can enjoy an ice cold beer at the local pub on premises while relaxing next to a crackling fire while listening to the wild dogs howling.
Emoya comes highly recommended if you are planning to take a sho’t left with accommodation available on premises. Emoya Estate Bloemfontein is situated at 7 Frans Kleynhans Road, Groenvlei, Bloemfontein which is just past Woodland Hills.
