I’ve had the best chicken salad (by far) at the Spookhuis in Bloemfontein.
Known to Bloemfonteiners, the Spookhuis at Emoya Estate, remains a hidden gem to travellers that come this way. Enjoy the 1904 old farmhouse atmosphere in a tranquil garden overlooking a pond where birdlife is abundant. They serve delicious meals, cakesĀ and drinks in the garden. Or lunch inside the old farmhouse with its ironbrick walls and dover oven.
Take a short walk to see the lapa overlooking a dam which has become a bird sanctuary. The accommodation is superb and has been divided into a Basotho village, for a luxury overnight stay, and theĀ Makuku village for budget travellers. It’s all about the experience.
The Emoya website doesn’t do it justice. Believe me. The place is a little gem.
