It has been a long time coming. £357 million spent and Lansdowne Road has its wrap-around! The Springboks (new team to me) has landed and here comes the big day.
I am a patriot. I always have and always will stand by my Bokke. However, the UK press make it sound as if we (SA) are a team all at sea. As if disaster has struck and we can only hope for the best. That we might even win one of these planned grand slam matches. Well, they have something to learn…
Regardless of tomorrow’s outcome against Ireland, I am convinced that the team has its eyes glued on the 2011 rugby world cup. This is not a war; it is merely a battle on the road to retain the trophy next year. I believe that every single player will play his heart out to prove himself to the coach and to his country. Not to win the game that is tomorrow, but to win the war that is the world cup next year. The Boks are planning and preparing a team that will retain the world cup next year.
If we pick up a few scalps along the way, then so be it!
